Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Office of Industrial Affairs (OIA) is responsible for managing the inventions of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center investigators (e.g., evaluating, protecting, marketing, licensing), for negotiating agreements for sponsored research, clinical trials, material transfer, etc., and for reviewing the consulting agreements of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center staff.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center researchers pursue basic and clinical research to advance the ability to prevent, control, and cure cancer. Ongoing research at the Sloan-Kettering Institute, the basic research arm of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, is yielding new insights into the biology of cancer. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center scientists are engaged in research in such diverse areas as cell signaling, developmental biology, tumor immunology, immunotherapy, transplantation biology, human cancer genetics, drug development, and clinical therapeutics.

The other development arm of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the clinical sector, carries out clinical trials and retrospective studies in all areas of cancer research, both investigator-initiated and industry-initiated projects. While most research revolves around cancer, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center scientists are also developing new therapies for immune system disorders, infectious diseases, and drug addiction. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is committed to developing affordable technologies for use worldwide; thus the OIA considers both the social and financial benefits of new opportunities.

One of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's greatest strengths is the close collaboration between laboratory and clinical investigators, thereby facilitating the translation of research from the laboratory to the bedside. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center conducts one of the most comprehensive clinical investigation programs in the world, which includes studies to evaluate the efficacy of standard cancer therapies and test new approaches to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer.

OIA is directed by Andrew D. Maslow, who has more than 25 years' experience in evaluating and developing the commercial potential of new technologies, and the office is well staffed with seasoned personnel. If you are interested in learning more about the technologies available for licensing at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, please contact Andrew Maslow (maslowa@mskcc.org), or any other members of the OIA staff listed below, who can inform you of developing collaborations with scientists.
