If a child requires hospitalization for surgery or treatment, he or she will be admitted to the new Pediatric Unit, opened in late 2003.
The Inpatient Unit or M9 includes a total of 33 beds, divided between 17 single occupancy and eight double occupancy rooms, each room in the Pediatric Inpatient Unit has accommodations that allow a parent to remain at their child's bedside for the length of the child's stay. The necessary clinical service space in each room accommodates the latest technology, such as access to the electronic medical record system, without interfering with the patient's space.
Another unique construction includes the design of the inpatient pharmacy and the medication preparation room, which allows open transactions and communication between these areas. Double-sided refrigerators and bins make the exchange of products and information more efficient.
