Our postdoctoral researcher colleagues are recognized at Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Academic Convocation. Established in 2003, the Postdoctoral Research Award acknowledges the accomplishments and promise of two outstanding Research Fellows, Research Scholars, or Research Associates. The award is announced at Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Academic Convocation and a prize of $2,000 is presented to each awardee. The recipients are chosen by the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Awards Committee.

Nomination Criteria

  • The postdoctoral researcher will have completed at least one year of training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, as of the date of nomination.
  • The nominee will be a postdoctoral researcher both at the time of nomination and at the time the award is conferred.
  • The postdoctoral researcher is an author on a publication in which he or she is the lead author or has made a significant contribution.
  • The postdoctoral researcher will have demonstrated distinctive promise for independent, creative research.

Nomination Process

  • A laboratory head may nominate only one Research Fellow, Research Scholar, or Research Associate.
  • Nomination letter from the lab head is required. The letter should include highlights of the postdoctoral researcher's accomplishments and describe the significance of his or her research project. The letter should also discuss the postdoctoral researcher's potential for future success as a creative, independent scientist.
  • Supporting materials must include the postdoctoral researcher's CV and relevant publications. In press publications may be submitted.
