Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center provides a number of services and facilities for your convenience, including the following:

Banking/Direct Deposit

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's preferred method of payment is to deposit your salary or stipend in the bank account of your choice. If you need to establish an account in New York, Chase and Citibank both provide free accounts (no fees) when you sign up for direct deposit.

Citibank

A Citibank branch is conveniently located at First Avenue and 69th Street. To open a new Citibank account, postdoctoral researchers must present a letter of introduction on Memorial Sloan-Kettering letterhead that states their name, current position, and address and that is signed and dated within 30 days of the date on which the account will be opened. Please note that an appointment letter will not suffice unless it is dated within 30 days. This letter of introduction can be obtained by contacting Hilda Figueroa via e-mail at figueroh@mskcc.org. In addition, you will be required to present your passport as photo identification.

Citibank's hours of operation are:

  • Monday - Wednesday, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Thursday, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Sunday, Closed

Chase Manhattan Bank

The nearest Chase branch is located at 1324 York Avenue (between 70th and 71st). No minimum balance is required for this account. The Chase at Work Program for Memorial Sloan-Kettering employees offers:

  • No-fee checking account with direct deposit
  • Free online banking with bill pay
  • Free Chase Visa extras
  • Access at more than 3,000 branches and 8,500 ATMs nationwide, along with ATMs at Duane Reade locations
  • Chase Exclusive discounts on mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and personal loans.

To open an account with Chase, Memorial Sloan-Kettering employees must present two forms of valid identification at a local branch, one of which may be your employee ID. The other form should be either a valid driver's license or passport.

Student and Faculty Club

The Student and Faculty Club is a private club that was established in 1999 to create a warm and welcoming environment to enhance student and faculty interactions within Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's academic community. The Club is located through the glass doors on the left side of the main lobby of the Rockefeller Research Laboratories building, at 430 East 67th Street.

The Club's lunch offerings include assorted wraps, salads, sushi, biscotti, chips, and fresh fruit. Coffee, cappuccino, Lavazza espressos, lattes, and Starbucks coffees and teas are also available at the Club. Additional amenities include a large flat-screen HDTV with cable access, a pool table, and wireless Internet access.

The Student and Faculty Club offers a full-service bar after 5:00 PM. Only Club members may purchase drinks at the bar. Your signed membership card must be presented to the bartenders upon purchase. Only cash is accepted.

The Club also hosts regularly scheduled events, which include:

  • Social hour for research fellows and faculty - Every other Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, complimentary wine and cheese is served. All are welcome.
  • Social hour for graduate students and faculty - Every Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, beer and snacks are provided. All are welcome.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is located at 1275 York Avenue entrance, next to Memorial Hospital's main reception desk. There you will find coffee, cappuccino, candy, books, beverages, snacks, greeting cards, gift items, spa products, MSKCC logo apparel and paraphernalia, cookbooks, health and body products, children's toys, jewelry, fresh and silk flowers, novels, picture frames, clothing and accessories, and a film-developing service.

The gift shop now features Seattle's Best Coffee Bar and Grab 'n' Go sandwiches. An assortment of snacks, pastries, and gourmet beverages are also available.

Hours of Operation

  • Monday - Friday , from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Holidays, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Cafeteria

The cafeteria offers a full range of food services, which feature salads, deli and grilled items, hot entrees, frozen desserts, and a variety of fresh fruit, beverages, and coffee. The cafeteria is open daily to staff and visitors for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 6:30 AM to 1:00 AM. Weekend hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Cyber Café

The Cyber Café is located in the lobby area of the 69th Street entrance of the Zuckerman Research Center. The café offers Grab 'n' Go lunch sandwiches, sushi, snacks, and a full coffee bar, including espressos and cappuccinos. The café is open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Starbucks Kiosk

The Starbucks kiosk is located in the Howard lobby. It offers snacks and beverages from 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located in the cafeteria, the main lobby of Memorial Hospital, and in the alcove on the first floor of the Rockefeller Research Laboratories building. These machines are accessible 24 hours a day.
