Emily
Emily Wang started life as a seemingly happy and healthy child in Brooklyn, New York. That began to change around her second birthday, when she started suffering from abdominal swelling, leg pains, and low-grade fevers. The changes were explained less than a month later when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare cancer of the sympathetic nervous system, for which her parents sought treatment from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's neuroblastoma team.

Dr. Cheung
By the time Emily arrived at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, her neuroblastoma had already spread to the bone and bone marrow. As a result, she was diagnosed with stage 4 MYCN amplified neuroblastoma, a subtype that placed her in the highest risk group among neuroblastoma patients. The difficulty was compounded when, nearing the end of her initial treatment, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her brain.
