Making an Appointment

Before Surgery

Standard presurgical testing is required for all patients undergoing a procedure at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. In addition, some patients may require a consultation with our medical or cardiology physicians if there are other health issues.

A few days before surgery, you will have an MRI that will assist the neurosurgeon with surgical navigation. This imaging test is performed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering's main campus, and can often be arranged to be done on the same day as your appointment.

After Surgery

As with any medical procedure, you should expect to feel fatigued immediately after surgery. Limiting stress and strenuous activities are advised during the first two to four weeks following surgery. You may feel pressure in your sinuses, but because there is not an incision other than the one made internally in the nose, most patients report little or no pain. Patients who have had a transphenoidal procedure should not submerge their head under water for six months afterward.
